From the President
Dear families, friends, and members of University Lutheran,

These have been trying times for us, at University Lutheran, since our Pastor has been absent and ill.  We all pray that his stay in Tampa will hasten his recovery and that soon he will be back in our midst.  For all of you who have sent cards and well wishes to Pastor either at his home address or Moffitt, all of those have been sent to him at his new address.  He welcomes all of your phone calls at 850-443-7588.

Please keep Mary Liz Moody and her mother and father, Jim and Liz Tippin, in your prayers as they recover from cancer, but are now faced with new problems.

We are happy to report that Scott, after his very serious motorcycle accident during finals week, has regained the use of his left arm and hand, and is definitely on the mend on his right arm and wrist.

The Pastoral Call Committee for a new pastor, when Pastor Dohrman retires this summer, is beginning the prayerful task of reviewing the needs of University Lutheran and Student Center and searching for the one person God has ordained to lead us in the years to come. Please watch for opportunities to participate in this process, YOU are the Body of Believers that Christ redeemed with His blood and we ask for your continuous prayers for the committee members and the call process.

The Church Council meets next Sunday, February 11th. This is going to be an important meeting with several items that need your attention. Please plan to stay after worship.

If you are in town this Sunday, please join us at 11 a.m. on Sunday.  We would love to see you.

God's blessings,
Elsa McKinney

Wednesday Night Dinner/Devotion
The devotion is entitled, "The Zeal" with the Bible verse being John 2: 16-17. We'll be having chicken fettucini alfredo, salad, and a dessert. Your first time, it's FREE! All other times we ask for a $2.00 donation. Hope to see you for some mid-week food and fellowship!
GALSM Retreat
Five students from ULC are attending the Gulf Atlantic Lutheran Student Movement retreat in Covington, GA from February 9-11. We are very excited and would ask the congregation to keep us in their prayers while we travel.
What is going on in your life...
Do you have a special event coming up that you would like your family from University Lutheran to attend? Just send an email to the Newsletter Editor with the particulars and we will tell the world... well, our little corner of it anyway!

Emotional Strength
"You have the capacity to choose what you think about. If you choose to think about past hurts, you will continue to feel bad. while it's true you can't change the effect past influences had on you once, you can change the effect they have on your now."
- Gary McKay, Ph.D.

Quality Student Housing Opportunity
University Lutheran Church and Student Center offers semi-private campus living for up to four students each semester. We offer very reasonable semester rates, high speed cable, cable TV, access to piano and organ, and plenty of quiet study space. We do not offer any of the usual distractions like a swimming pool, weight room, sauna, basketball court, tennis court, PETS, or wild parties.  If you are a serious student and don't want to "break the bank" with dorm expenses, please email the ULC President for additional information. NOTE: This is not a co-ed facility and occupancy may be dependent upon gender.

University Lutheran Church and Student Center,
a quiet (sometimes), friendly (always) place.
