From the President Thank you to all of you who have been so faithful with your prayers and your presence, while Pastor Dohrman has been sick and gone. We also thank the students who serve at Hope, Jim Freeman who has done so much to keep everything under control, the peer ministers who have done such a great job on Wednesday evenings, Mary Hafner, who is wonderful with choosing hymns and doing the bulletins for Sunday, and all of you who continue to support University Lutheran. Thank you I talked to Pastor a short while ago, i.e. mid morning on Thursday, and he sounds wonderful. He has been back in the hospital briefly to treat an infection and is expected to move back to the rehabilitation facility the 8th. Pastor is really looking forward to coming home sometime within the next two weeks. Please note the "permanent" Tampa address in the left column. This address will be good until he returns to Tallahassee which is expected to be around Ash Wednesday, January 16th. Pastor really looks forward to your telephone calls (850-383-1760 cell), if there is no answer, please call back. Cheryl also had good news, in that she does not have to wear "the boot" at all times and Wayne and Paula Smith are both feeling much better. Scott only has one cast (on his right forearm) and Mary Liz's mother is making progress. Deb Buenrostro's father continues to hold on, despite his very serious illness. We are thankful and praise God that all of these folks are feeling better and getting well. This Sunday, four of our college students will be out of town for a retreat. Our prayers go with them, as they grow in faith and friendship with other Lutheran students. If you are in town this coming Sunday, please join us for worship at 11 a.m. We love to see all of you. God's blessings, Student Social A Karaoke social is in the works for the end of February/early March. Keep an eye out for future announcements! If you do not see any information by the February 23rd E-News, e-mail our Peer Ministers and bug them about it. UUU GALSM Retreat Four students from ULC are attending the Gulf Atlantic Lutheran Student Movement retreat in Covington, GA this weekend. "We are very excited and would ask the congregation to keep us in their prayers while we travel." Anyone that is interested is welcome to come, children, parents, college students, grand parents, you are all welcome. The program will serve the young people in our congregation, and their friends, in grades sixth through twelve. Both parents and young people are encouraged to attend and discuss the Why, What, Who, When and Where. If you have an interest or any questions about either program you can contact Church Council member Robert Thompson via email (rmt06@fsu.edu) or phone (386-538-1154). "I might not pick up, but when I get a chance I will call you back". Thank you for your time and consideration. May God bless your day in whatever you do.UUU Free Will Donations for National Youth Gathering Randee Garrett and Crystal Berner will be attending the National Youth Gathering in Orlando this July and are asking for donations to help defray the costs. All donations are greatly appreciated!UUU Pastoral Call Committee continues meeting What is a Call Committee and what do they do? The ULC Pastoral Call Committee members are Bob Wagner, Chair, Elsa McKinney, Mary Hafner, Robert Thompson, Crystal Berner, Jim Freeman, Miriam Hilmer, and Myrna Hoover. Appointed by the Church Council, these members of the congregation will represent you in the process of seeking another pastor for ULC for when Pastor Dohrman retires this summer. The Committee has chosen to use the Internet as a means of keeping you informed of their actions and to request your continued prayers. The Internet address, www.UniversityLutheranChurch.net/call will offer you the minutes of meetings and various documents used in the process. The first action in calling a pastor for ULC is to seek the answers to why, who, how, and when about University Lutheran Church and Student Center. To do this we ask that you assist the committee by completing a Congregational Self Evaluation Tool (download here). This is YOUR opportunity to tell the committee how your feel about ULC, where you think ULC is and where ULC should be going, as we strive to serve the community through the Gospel of our Lord and Savior. Copies of all minutes, documents, the Evaluation Tool and other information will be available by mail or at ULC upon request by emailing the Committee Chair or calling 878-4071. All comments, questions, concerns and desires should be shared with the Call Committee Chair, Bob Wagner (g8rdad@aol.com). University Lutheran Church and Student Center offers semi-private campus living for up to four students each semester. We offer very reasonable semester rates, high speed cable, cable TV, access to piano and organ, and plenty of quiet study space. We do not offer any of the usual distractions like a swimming pool, weight room, sauna, basketball court, tennis court, PETS, or wild parties. If you are a serious student and don't want to "break the bank" with dorm expenses, please email the ULC President for additional information. NOTE: This is not a co-ed facility and occupancy may be dependent upon gender.
