Looking for Visitors. (02/27/2007)

GALSM1 GALSM2 GALSM3
ULC-FSU at GALSM Spring Retreat 2007

From February 9-11, 2007, four University Lutheran Church and Student Center students, Crystal Berner, Randee Garrett, Danielle Marone, and Timothy Brown attended the Gulf Atlantic Lutheran Student Movement Spring Retreat.

The retreat was held at the FFA-FCCLA Center in chilly Covington, GA. Activities throughout the weekend included sessions with Sue Mendenhall (Assistant to the Bishop of FL/Bahamas Synod), a silent auction, campfire, Sunday service, and fun games! Sue Mendenhall spoke about discovering/identifying our Christian identities in the world. The theme "My Christian Identity" was accompanied with small group discussions and silhouette messages.

Altogether the weekend was a very enlightening and fun for all participants! We look forward to next year!UUU

From the President

Dear families, friends, and members of University Lutheran,

Dear students, have a wonderful time during your spring break.  But remember to be safe, have fun, and say your prayers.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and we look forward to seeing you again, when spring break is over.

Thank you to all of you members and residents who continue to support ULC, while pastor is sick and away.  I am so impressed and touched by your support.  You are the church, and without you we would not be here.  Keep going and thank you.

We congratulate Epiphany Lutheran Church, our sister congregation in Tallahassee, which will have a new pastor after Easter.  Pastor Mark Schulz from Zion Lutheran in Sioux Falls, S.D. will be installed as Epiphany's pastor on Sunday, April 22d at 4 p.m.   Best wishes from all of us at ULC, Epiphany!

We are so very happy to have Pastor Dohrman back in town.  It was great to see him this week.  Keep him in your prayers, or better yet, go see him at Tallahassee Memorial Rehab Center, on Medical Drive.  You can check his schedule HERE and reserve some private time for your visit. He would love to see you between 3 and 8 p.m.  At other times, he is likely to be in some sort of therapy or rehab.  If you have some extra time, please bring a copy of the Tallahassee Democrat Sports' page.  He would love it, if you would read to him,  what the Seminoles are doing.

Wayne and Paula Smith are doing well, notwithstanding that Wayne underwent cataract surgery.  Mary Liz Moody's mom is hanging in there, Cheryl Dance started to drive again this week, after breaking her foot last December, so at ULC, we are feeling better.  Except for Sylvia Culp who underwent an operation for her back this week.  Our prayers are with all of you, including Deb Buenrostro and her family.

Please note that this Sunday we will have a council meeting after the service.

If you are in town this week-end, please join us for worship at 11 a.m.  We would love to see you.

God's blessings to all of you,
Elsa McKinney UUU

Second Thursday Serving at HOPEServing

Thursday, March 8 is a second Thursday of the month.  That means ULC is serving dinner at the HOPE Community.  This month we ask for any volunteers from our ULC community.  If it is your first time - it will take about one hour of your time ... from 5:00 PM to 6:00 pm.  You do not have to bring anything or get anything ready - just come and serve the meal and bring your smile.  Please email or call Catherine Knickerbocker if you can volunteer.UUU

From ULC's Peer Ministers
Crystal, Randee, and Danielle would like to wish all students HAPPY SPRING BREAK! Have fun, be safe, and make sure you wear sunscreen! See you in Church on Sunday March 11th!UUU

Quality Student Housing Opportunity
University Lutheran Church and Student Center offers semi-private campus living for up to four students each semester. We offer very reasonable semester rates, high speed cable, cable TV, access to piano and organ, and plenty of quiet study space. We do not offer any of the usual distractions like a swimming pool, weight room, sauna, basketball court, tennis court, PETS, or wild parties.  If you are a serious student and don't want to "break the bank" with dorm expenses, please email the ULC President for additional information. NOTE: This is not a co-ed facility and occupancy may be dependent upon gender.
