SUNDAY, APRIL 1, 2007 Come, be a part of this great privilege. From the President Dear friends, members, and families of University Lutheran, I trust that you are enjoying this beautiful weather, and I believe that the dogwoods and azaleas around town look absolutely lovely. What a beautiful place to call home. The great news is that Pastor Dohrman has gone home. Thank you to Paul Hoover who built two ramps at pastor's house to make coming in and going out easier. As always, Pastor Dohrman would love for you to stop by and visit him. Afternoons are best. The second great news is one in which you, our congregation is invited to participate. We are having a congregational meeting after the service this Sunday to hear about the pastoral candidate that both the church council and the call committee have agreed on. In other words, when Pastor Dohrman retires in July 2007, we will need a new pastor. Our church council and our call committee have agreed on a pastoral candidate, but you, the members of the congregation are the ones who make the final decision to call this young man. So, please come and hear about Jay Winters and then decide, if he sounds like the person for us. I know what you are thinking, it will be really hard to find a pastor to replace Pastor Dohrman. That is so true, but we need to be realistic and think ahead and call someone to be here for us. This Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week, when we remember Christ's journey to the cross and celebrate His glorious resurrection. Please mark your calendars for these events: this Sunday, Palm Sunday, worship at 11, Maundy Thursday, on April 5th, service at 7 p.m., Good Friday, on April 6th at 7 p.m., Easter Sunday, Easter breakfast at 10 a.m., Easter egg hunt at 10:30 and worship at 11 a.m. Please join us for these special services. We would love to see you. After chatting with Pastor Dohrman, he mentioned to me that Easter is traditionally a time when baptisms may take place. If any one of you, feels so inclined and would like to be baptized this coming Easter Sunday, April 8th, please contact me. God's blessings, A Look at the Lessons This is an informal group of lively, heartfelt, meaningful, practical application, open sharing and exchanges on specific Bible passages featured for that Sunday's sermon, found in the church bulletin's "Celebrate" section. It is enriching and enhances the Sunday's service for all. All are welcome each Sunday morning at 10:15 in front of the fireplace.UUU

At his 50th year reunion from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, David will be presented with an award as an outstanding alumnus. Roanoke College was founded in 1842, and in the college's 165 year history only 100 such awards have been presented. On March 31st, there will be a film crew at the Ferguson Home, to film David and Rosemary. The celebration of the 50th Reunion will take place on the 20th and 21st of April, and David will be honored and feted that weekend. David told me that when the president of the college called him, and told him of this honor, David was stunned and surprised, but immensely pleased. David, we are very, very proud of you. We have always known that you are an outstanding person. Congratulations!!!!
