July 22, 2007 - 4:00 p.m.: Candidate Winters Ordination and Installation Service is held at University Lutheran Church and Student Center. We welcome Pastor Jay Winters into our ministry and fellowship at ULC. UUU From the President Dear members, families, and friends of University Lutheran, I hope that all of you are enjoying the beginning of summer, especially since we have had some rain. It really has been a long time since we were able to enjoy that wonderful, peaceful feeling of rain. When I visited with Pastor Dohrman this morning, he commented with a big smile on his face, how wonderful it was to sit and enjoy watching the rain and the "greening of his backyard". In my opinion his backyard does look wonderfully green. We do not have too much news right now, except it was wonderful to have Candidate, soon to be Pastor Jay Winters be with us this past Sunday. We look forward to July 22d, when we will observe the rite of ordination and the rite of installation for Candidate Winters, right here at University Lutheran. Very often candidates for pastorates have the rite of ordination at their home churches. I personally feel very honored that Candidate Winters has chosen to have the rite of ordination here at University Lutheran. I personally believe that this is his gift to us, and I feel honored. Please mark this very special date for Candidate Jay Winters on your calendars and plan to be at church on the 22d of July at 4 p.m. We, at University Lutheran are making plans to make this a memorable occasion for all who will be here. Please let me know, if you would like to participate in the festivities and activities. There are many options for service and participation. Please let me know how you would like to participate. Our constitution requires that we have at least two elders. For a couple of years, Bob Wagner has been the one and only elder and we thankfully acknowledge all that he has done for University Lutheran. However, we should have 2 elders, according to our constitution. Paul Hoover has graciously accepted the offer to become our 2d elder. To comply with the constitution, we need to have a congregational meeting and vote to accept Paul Hoover as our elder. Hereby I give a 2 week notice to have a congregational meeting on June 24 to elect Paul Hoover as an elder. Please mark your calendars for this important meeting and plan to attend. Finally do continue to keep in your prayers our Pastor Dohrman, Deb Buenrostro and her family, Bob and Sylvia Culp, Shannon Groskreutz upon the knowledge of a mass in her chest cavity, and any other family members and friends who need our prayers. If you are in town this coming Sunday, we would love to see you for worship at 11. By the way, I will not be in town next weekend, but you know what to do. Say your prayers, come to church on all Sundays at 11, plan to be at the congregational meeting on June 24th, and at the ordination of Candidate Jay Winters July 22d at 4 p.m. God's blessings,
