Your help is requested for donations of time, talents and/or items for the upcoming National Youth Gathering (NYG) to be held in Orlando on July 28 to August 1, 2007.  Our Local Arrangements Coordinator, Pat Kubicek has received requests for the following.

1.     The Gathering is in need of the following clothing styles for photo opportunities for a hands on learning experience at the NYG.  If you were planning on donating some old clothes to a charity, or have items that are out of style or just don’t fit, this would be a great way to help.

  • Older styles – something that might reflect living in a very very poor neighborhood perhaps back in the 30's or 50's
  • Southwest - cowboy hats, and western shirts and skirts)
  • City Clothing – women’s and men’s business attire and “after 5” wear
  • Caribbean clothing - floral shirts, warm weather hats, etc

2.     Pat also has requests for the following items to be donated or lent for a hands-on learning experience for the NYG participants:

  • Irons and Ironing boards
  • Crutches of all sizes
  • Posters from around the world (24 x 36) – Like you might see at a Travel Agency

If you are in the local Orlando area Pat could pick up any of the above items..  If you are outside of the Orlando area, arrangements can be made for these items to be dropped off at the Gathering.  Contact Pat for further details.

3.    Volunteers

  • Volunteers are needed to cut and sew communion covers to be used at the Gathering.  Material will be supplied.
  • Volunteers are also needed to lead/teach Pilates, Yoga and Latin dance to Gathering participants.   These instructors would be needed on Sunday, July 29, Monday, July 30 & Tuesday July 31.
  • Also needed are volunteers to help pack over 20,000 backpacks for NYG participants on Thursday July 26th.  These backpacks are given to each attendee and include a Bible and other information for each youth.  You can volunteer for this individually or if you can get a group together that would be great

For more specific information regarding any of the above or if would like to volunteer please contact Pat at 407-287-4567 or NYGPatLocal@cfl.rr.com.

Good Stuff

Why does a slight tax increase cost you $200 and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents?
