From the President I trust that you are enjoying your summer as everything is more relaxed, hot, but more relaxed. Here at University Lutheran our summers are usually marked by a slower pace as well. Most of our students are gone to be at home with families or traveling, and our resident families take time off for travel and vacations as well. In a few short weeks, the summer of 2007 will be quite different, not relaxed at all. We have several events coming up and we hope that you will be able to join us for some, if not for all. First of all, we celebrate Pastor Dohrman's 65th birthday on July 15th with a picnic in his backyard starting at 5:00 p.m. If you plan to come, please let us know, so that we can make plans for the refreshments. On Wednesday, July 18th, we will have a workday at church starting at 10:00 a.m. We realize that this is a workday, and if you unable to come, we understand. We will ready the church for the Ordination and Installation Service for Jay Allen Winters on Sunday, July 22d at 4:00 p.m. Very often pastors go back to their home churches for the Rite of Ordination. Candidate Jay Winters has chosen to be ordained here at University Lutheran. We believe that this is a gift for us, as the ordination service is a very moving and solemn ceremony. Please be sure to come. We will have a reception after the service, and if you would like to bring a vegetable dish, salad, or dessert to share that would be great; however, please come even if you are not bringing something. We would love to see you. Two weeks after that, on August 4th at 5:00 p.m., we plan to have a retirement party for Pastor Dohrman. He has requested a Tailgate Party. It should be fun, so please come. David Heller is preparing a DVD of his ministry here at University Lutheran for a farewell gift. On August 26th, we will have a welcoming reception following the Worship Service for new and returning students. More to follow on this event. For council members, and anyone who is interested, we will have a council meeting on August 5th after the Worship Service. Please mark all of these events in your calendars. Bob and Sylvia Culp have returned to their home after an extended stay at a rehab center., however we do not know how long they will be able to stay at home. I understand that Sylvia needs help, that Bob cannot provide on his own. Debie Buenrostro tells me that her parents are both hanging in there. Please keep all of these folks in your prayers. It is with sadness that I report that today, Thursday, William, Richard, and Ryan Mwegoha returned to their native Tanzania. Victoria is staying in Tallahassee, while she completes work on her Ph.D. We will miss Richard and Ryan, as frequent crucifer and candlelighter, with Dad William's help. We wish all of the family God's blessings, as they are separated and begin new phases in their lives. If you are in town on Sunday morning, please join us for worship at 11. God's blessings, God's blessings, Dates to remember
