From the President Dear members and families, and friends of University Lutheran, I hope that all of you are enjoying your summer and are taking time to relax and enjoy your families. Here at University Lutheran, we are making plans for Candidate Jay Winters' Ordination and Installation Service on the 22d of July at 4 p.m. and Pastor Dohrman's retirement and birthday party on the 4th of August. We had indicated that we would celebrate his 65th birthday on the 15th however, Pastor Dohrman is in the hospital as I write this and may not be home or well enough by this Sunday. We will try to keep all of you posted, but if in doubt, please call the church or someone you may suspect who has more information. Please do not call me as I am leaving town early this Saturday morning. This may be my last e-news letter to you. I started writing these sometime last year, when Pastor Dohrman was unable to write his weekly messages to us. He was very ill and so many of you wanted to know how he was doing. I tried to keep track of his condition and decided that this e-news letter was the easiest way to reach most of you. I have tried to do my best to keep you informed and I would like to thank so many of you who have been so kind and helpful. I will not name names, but I appreciate all of your efforts, kindnesses, and support as we have done our best to keep University Lutheran going through some pretty difficult times. Please keep University Lutheran in your prayers, as we go through these difficult and exciting changes. God's blessings, A change in plans Pastor Dohrman's retirement party is postponed and will be celebrated at his retirement "tailgate party" on August 4 at University Lutheran.UUU Notes from our members and friends 07/03/2007 I just got back from my post-operative appointment, and I found out that the tumor was benign! Because of this good news, I will in fact be going home to Chicago this Thursday for the remainder of the summer to spend some time with my family. My first Sunday back will be August 26. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support. You cannot imagine how much it meant to me and helped me. Best wishes, 07/06/2007 I know that some of you have read my blog from time to time. It has not been updated for so long that I would completely forgive you for thinking that I let it die. But actually, things just got really busy, and Eric and I are sharing a computer right now (and he has been needing it a lot because of his coursework). Anyway, I thought some of you might be interested in checking out my two recent posts, which bring you up to speed on what we've been doing, and also tell you about our European adventure, which will begin in a couple of days. Feel free to take a look if you are interested (no worries if you are not): I hope that this email finds all of you enjoying the summer and finding some time to relax. We'd love to hear what is new with you if you have a moment to drop us a line! Take good care, travel safely if you are also journeying in the next few weeks and months, and savor the sunshine! Happy July! Love Candidate Winter's ordination and installation
Student reception set for August 25 A special reception for new and returning students to Tallahassee is to be held at University Lutheran Church and Student Center following worship on August 25. The reception, to begin at 12:15, will be a time of fellowship and rejoicing as we continue friendships from the last school year and meet new friends just coming on campus.
