From Pastor Jay That's a part of this upcoming week's Old Testament reading. It hits home as I continue hearing pounding and sawing outside of the church here. Now we may have had some problems with siding - but the church is far from being an "ancient ruin." The thing that really sticks out to be is this line: "You shall raise up the foundations of many generations." Really, that's what we're called to do here at University Lutheran. That's what a campus ministry is called to do. Some of us are students and some of us are not. Yet each and everyone of us are called to raise up the foundations of many generations. Those of you who are students, you are building the foundations of the church and your part in the church. Many of you will go on to be church presidents and treasurers and evangelism board heads. Others of you will be Sunday school teachers on the weekends. Others of you yet might be deaconesses or pastors. Others of you yet will be professors and professional musicians and construction workers. God gave you all of the talents and passions that you have. He wants you to use them to be the repairer of the breach and the restorer of streets to live in. Those of you who are not students, you are building the foundations of the church and not only your part in the church - but the part of students in the church. Your foundation building here at University Lutheran involves being a part of this community. You can offer the wisdom of your years. You can offer the sweat of your brow. You can offer a listening ear. You can offer a smile that says, "we're happy you're here living out what God has made you to be." You are the repairer of the breach. You are the restorer of streets to live in. Last Sunday in the sermon, I mentioned that we look to the author and perfecter of our faith when we go about doing the work of God. We look to Jesus also when we see this reading from Isaiah. He repaired the breach that was made by sin when He died on a cross. He restored streets of gold for us to live in when He rose. He has raised up the foundations of many generations - of which you are one generation looking forward to the next. It is because of Him that we are called and gathered to be in community here at University Lutheran. In Christ, Pastor Jay Clear Your Calendars! New and Important

Good Stuff After a church service on Sunday morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his mother, “Mom, I’ve decided to become a minister when I grow up.”“That’s okay with us, but what made you decide that?” “Well,” said the little boy, “I have to go to church on Sunday anyway, and I figure it will be more fun to stand up and yell, than to sit and listen.”
