President Michael to visit ULCWe have received a letter from Pastor Gerhard C. Michael, Jr., the President of the Florida-Georgia District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. University Lutheran is part of this synod. Pastor Michael sends us his greetings and "peace in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who calls us to be his people and equips us to be his witnesses and servants in the world". He goes on to state that the District staff is eagerly looking forward to visiting the Tallahassee Circuit on October 14 and 15, 2006. As goals of this visit, he expects it to be a time when we are "encouraged and strengthened for our mutual ministry". On Saturday, the 14th at 2 p.m., Pastor Michael would like visit some of our lay members and Pastor to discuss some of the ways that we can achieve some of these goals. On Sunday, Pastor Michael will be our guest pastor. On Sunday afternoon, at 3 p.m., we are invited to meet at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Thomasville for further "sharing of information, needs, and opportunities. We want to explore how congregations in the Tallahassee Circuit can work together, and learn more about the partnership we share in the Florida-Georgia District". Please mark your calendars for these events. UUU FLOWER BED SPRINKLER SYSTEM
Whoever is helping with periodic watering of the flowers, thank you but PLEASE be sure to have the valve completely pushed shut when turning it off. We have been finding that it is still on slightly and the constant leak does increase our water bill! UUU Dear families, friends, and members of ULC,This is certainly a beautiful week-end. I hope all of you have the oportunity to share and spend some time enjoying this wonderful weather. I know that many of you will be busy with the Habitat for Humanity project, wielding hammers or preparing food for the workers. This week Pastor Dohrman underwent yet another chemo treatment. Please keep him in your prayers. We also remember Mary Liz Moody's mother, who also is suffering from cancer, Sylvia Culp, who was admitted Thursday for surgery, and Larry Lee, Cheryl Dance's father, who is battling a persistent cough. The funeral for Paul Jones, Paula Smith's father is tomorrow at 10 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Sunday, our guest pastor is the Rev. James Balke. He serves at Hospice in Jacksonville, and will drive over to be with us on Sunday morning. Please plan to help us welcome him to our beautiful city and hospitable church. Our choir, under the able direction of Ms. Bethany Kiral will sing a beautiful Agnus Dei. I look forward to seeing many of you Sunday morning. God's blessings, |
