From Pastor Jay This coming week's Old Testament lesson talks about the things that God "sets before us" just as our computer screens sit in front of our face. God says, "See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity." (Deuteronomy 30:15). What would it be like if we could just treat our spiritual lives like we do our computers? What if we could choose to click on "life and prosperity" or "death and adversity." It would stand to reason that we would always click on the "life and prosperity" website or program or whatever it was. But that's not the way that we always treat our computers. Sometimes we click on the wrong thing just to know what it feels like to click the wrong thing. Many times that gets us into a whole mess of trouble. There are internet companies that charge high prices to do things to our computers like guard them from viruses, clean out our browsing histories, and some that keep children and adults from clicking on things that lead them to places where they don't belong. (If you have problems with clicking places that you don't belong in, go to XXX Church - an anti-pornography Christian ministry). Christ comes to us and looks at where we have been. He looks at the viruses we've downloaded onto the hard drives of our bodies. What He sees there is your dirty little secrets. That sin that you're afraid to tell anyone that you engage in. Maybe it's hate. Maybe it's lust. Maybe it's an addiction. Whatever it is - He wants to wipe it away, it disgusts Him. You see, He wants you to click on "life and prosperity" and He knows that you can't until you're clean and forgiven. He offers you forgiveness. He gives that to you as a free gift - no charge. He gives it to you in Confession and Absolution. You can do that personally with me or you can do that corporately with everyone on Sunday. Just do it. Let Christ clean you. See you Sunday.
