District President Michael visitsThe week-end of October 14th and 15th is very special at University Lutheran. We will be visited by Pastor Gerhard Michael of the Florida-Georgia District. Pastor Michael will visit with congregational members on the 14th at 2 p.m. at the University Lutheran and preach on Sunday the 15th. The leadership of the area congregations will meet with President Michael on Sunday the 15th at 3 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Thomasville, GA sharing of information, needs, and opportunities. We want to explore how congregations in the Tallahassee Circuit can work together, and learn more about the partnership we share in the Florida-Georgia District.UUU Dear families, friends, and members of ULC,Pastor Dohrman is getting stronger and stronger every day. Praise be to God.! There will be a council meeting after the service on the 8th. Crystal Berner will lead the meeting. It is important that council members be present, because we will talk about elections of council members. Minutes of the September 17 Council meeting area available by clicking here. The LWML will serve dinner at the HOPE Community on October 12. Even though we say LWML is serving, anyone may come, it only takes about an hour and a half. Please contact Catherine Knickerbocker, if you are willing and able to help that evening. The LWML is again serving lunch for the Habitat for Humanity crew at the building site on October 28. More information will be available later. On October 22, there will be a Tallahassee Symphony POPS in the GARDEN concert at Maclay Gardens. Pastor Dohrman would like to hear from anyone who is interested to go. We hear that Sylvia Culp is recuperating at home after her surgery and she states that the good days are more frequent than the bad. Keep her in your prayers, as she recuperates. If you are in town on Sunday, please join us for the service at 11 a.m. Pastor Emory Hingst will lead our service. God's blessings, Wednesday, October 11th: Student Dinner/Devotion-We will be having breakfast (pancakes, eggs, bacon). Your first time is FREE and all subsequent dinners are $2.00; Our topic of conversation will be "Preparing Your Hands" with the key Bible verse being Matthew 11:2-3. We invite you to come out to share in some midweek devotional discussion as well as food and fellowship! UUU Student Social GatheringOctober 20th at 6:00pm. Meet at the Church for Ice Cream Sundaes and then "Random Acts of Acapella." Many of us will also be attending the midnight movie at the Student Life Building that night. We invite you to come on out and enjoy a night of ICE CREAM and ACAPELLA MUSIC! UUU ULC Council NominationsHere is the final slate of nominees for the 2006/2007 Church Council. Election and installation of the new council will be on October 29.
Lutheran Women in MissionLWML will meet on Oct. 17, Tuesday, 6:30 PM at Hopkins's Eatery on Market Street. All women of the church are welcome ... students too. Meetings are very relaxed - kind of a girl's night out! LWML members will be helping serve at the HOPE Community on Thursday, Oct. 12. LWML members may contact Catherine Knickerbocker if interested in helping serve. Thank you to Rosemary Ferguson who headed the LWML sponsored lunch for the Habitat for Humanity crew on September 30. And thank you to those members who worked with Rosemary to provide that yummy "Lutheran" lunch. LWML will sponsor lunch again on 10/28/06; if you can volunteer to help provide and prepare the food for lunch, give Catherine Knickerbocker a call or email. UUU
Tailgate parties are a great successA big thank you to all who have volunteered and helped with the past three FSU game Tail Gate gatherings. Included in that group are Lizbeth and David Childs, Linda Andrews, Elsa & Meredith McKinney, Adam Brink, Cheryl and Donny Dance, Paul & Myrna Hoover, Michael & Rebecca Strickland, Michelle Kraft, Debra Mattingly, Connie Brink, Ann Marie Karl and others I may not have mentioned. Our next Tail Gate is scheduled for Oct 21 and we already have the volunteers signed up: Betty Knickerbocker and Mary Hafner are helping with food preparation and Adam is setting up ... again! What a great team we have - that is ULC I am referring to! UUU |
