From Pastor Jay In our Gospel lesson for Reformation Sunday, Jesus tells His disciples that in order to truly be His disciples, they had to "abide in My Word." Abiding in God's Word is a significant thing. It doesn't mean just reading the Word or hearing the Word, although that is where it starts. It doesn't mean just doing the things that you find in God's Word, although that is one the things that you should really want to do after bumping up against God's Word. It means that you are living in God's Living Word. That Living Word is with you on bad days and good days. It is with you when you feel like your life is falling apart. It is with you when you question your own faith, and it brings you back like a comforting mother or friend. It is with you when you are so positive about your faith that you strut around like a little leaguer after his or her first home run. Martin Luther went through many tests and trials during the Lutheran Reformation. Some of those days he must have felt like the sky was falling down. Other days he must have felt like God's own outlaw prince. Still, every day of his life, Luther knew what we know today - that God's Word Abides in Eternity with each of us because that Word is Jesus Christ. In Christ, Pastor Jay Clear Your Calendars!
