In our church council meeting, people here want to remind you - if you
can walk, consider leaving one of the 'really good' spots for a visitor
or someone who can't walk all that well, or a family with a gaggle of
young kids. Paul in Thessalonians says that people should not
live in idleness and should not be mere busybodies not doing any
work. We really could cut off your snack and coffee
priviledges. Thank goodness Lutherans are a people of grace.
How about when you get here? Who do you talk to? Did you
realize that we averaged about 2 new people a Sunday in October?
Don't you think it would be easy to spot 2 new people in a crowd of
people that you've seen before?
Maybe
you
just don't know what to say. It's easy, do what I do. Say,
"I don't
think I've met you yet..." If you have, you might think you look like
an idiot - but you might just be the nicest person they've met that
morning. You'll look like a
saint. Maybe a saint with bad memory, but
a saint nonetheless. Watch
this video.
I heard once of a
pastor who said, "the pastor does the sermon, everyone else does the
message." And that message is a message we know well. That
message is that the God of the Entire Universe...the God of ALL
Existence...the God of Eternity...He loves you. He loves you more
than a parking spot or fear of meeting new people. He loves you
enough to die for you....and to die for you once and for all. You
don't have to die to show people you love them. You just have to
give them the message.
In Christ,
Pastor Jay

of Christianity like the inquisition, anti-semitism, and religious wars.

Many
thanks to everyone who signed up and said they would be interested in a
German service this Advent. The German service will be at 7pm on
December 12th (2nd Wednesday in Advent).

the doors of University Lutheran and get them to start considering who
Christ is in their lives.

Parking Lot Struggles
The
Council would like to officially remind those who worship with us that
parking is available for able bodied people behind the Garnet and Gold
store, in the parking lot to the side of church on Jefferson, and at
the Muslim center next door (please leave by 2pm if you park at the
Muslim center) and ask that some parking in the main lot behind church
be left for visitors and those with trouble walking.
Two Volunteers Needed for Circut Convocation!
Two
volunteers are needed from University Lutheran to help with the
upcoming Circuit Convocation on Saturday, April 26. Please
contact Pastor Jay
to volunteer.
Go to the Messiah, Help Crystal Berner
Crystal Berner, one of our
Peer Ministers, needs to sell 7 tickets to Handel's Messiah at Ruby
Diamond Auditorium directed by Andre Thomas. Please help her by
buying a discounted ticket from her ($10 instead of $18 if you buy from
Crystal, or $5 if you're a student). Contact Crystal via email by
clicking this link.
Relay For Life
In April 2008, FSU will be
conducting a Relay for Life event with the American Cancer
Society. Money raised by Relay for Life will go towards finding
cures and medical help for people dealing with cancer. Many of us
know people who have or are currently dealing with cancer in their
lives, including Pastor Dohrman.
We need both STUDENT and NON-STUDENT representation. Please email
Pastor Jay
to begin the process of having a Relay for Life time in honor of Pastor
Dohrman's valiant struggle against cancer.
Finals Frenzy
In
about one month finals will be upon students of FSU, FAMU and
TCC. Finals week for FSU is December 10-14. During this
stressful time of year for students, many campus ministry centers host
breakfasts, destressing activities, quiet study places, and a variety
of other things.
Help University Lutheran serve students as they live out their
vocations in this time of testing. Email Peer Minister Randee Garrett
for more information.
Missed a sermon?
Since
my dad preached last Sunday, no text of the sermon is available.

Good Stuff
Ask someone you love to go on a 15 minute walk with you. It'll
make you smile a whole lot longer than any stupid joke I could put in
here, and I promise you'll remember it longer.- PJ
