Prayer List
(Please consider including the following in your prayer life this week)

Joy to be released upon the earth through the Good News of Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection.

Comfort for the Buenrostros mourning the loss of Wilbur.

Continued guidance given to churches all over the world.

Lily, Julia's friend, recovering from a knee injury.

A childlike wonder for creation, especially during this warm weather.

All students taking finals.

Don Herzog, RoseAnn's friend, who is going through some medical problems.

That all world leaders may be led by the light of Christ.

Katrina, Elsa's friend, who continues to deal with cancer.

That we might care less about our own needs this season, and care for those who are in need.

The mother of Ted Akin, one of the NOOMA students, who is nearing the end of her life.

Thanksgiving for all of God's answered prayers.

...and that our prayers may be joined with the prayers of all God's saints here on earth.

From Pastor Jay

We're continuing with our video series on the life of Mary.

Please watch this video, The Life of Mary: Un-Scripted

Worship or worry?  That's the question that we're left with at the end of this video.  Which do you choose when you're in a tough situation?

Lutheran theology is particular on the fact that when we worship, it is God's gift working in us.  It's not really our choice to worship, but it can be our choice not to.

God's gift of worship is like being breathed into.  It supplies us with what we need and we exhale.  The substance that we exhale isn't anything of that much importance for us, but it's still important to do it.

Worrying can be like holding our breath.  In fact, it kind of feels that way some times when you're worrying, doesn't it?  Like you're holding your breath?  Mary didn't hold her breath.  She didn't worry, although she plenty of reason to.

What are you worrying about?  Finals?  How to pay to Christmas presents?  How you're going to feel about your relatives when you see them?  How they're going to feel about you?

Instead of worrying, let God breathe into you.  He breathed into Mary and she sang the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55).  He breathed His own Life into Mary and she bore Jesus.

God's work in our life is unscripted by us, but He knows the script intimately.  Allow the worship of God to speak to you and through you in worship this week.

In Christ,
Pastor Jay

Good Stuff

A young pastor from Wisconsin recieved his first call to a church somewhere in Florida.  Depressed about how his new congregation was turning out, he wrote to home:
"Dear Mom and Dad,
The seminary never prepared me for preaching in this kind of climate.  It's amazing.  The winter here is so nice that people aren't interested in heaven, and the summer is so hot that hell doesn't scare them at all..."
